DineFlow manual · Chapter 2

Menu, prices & add-ons

Build menus that switch on by time of day, dishes with sizes and add-ons, branch prices, and happy-hour deals — and take a dish off with one tap when the kitchen runs out.

Dishes and drinks

  1. 1
Open Menu → Products and choose New product.
  2. 2
Enter the name, description, kind (food, drink, combo), price and cost price — DineFlow shows your margin.
  3. 3
Selling in sizes? Add sizes instead of one price: Quarter kg / Half kg / 1 kg, Small / Large. Mark one as the default.
  4. 4
Pick its categories, prep time, tax rate (or the restaurant default), dietary labels (vegetarian, halal, spicy…) and allergens.
  5. 5
Attach modifier groups (below), save, then add a photo.
  6. 6
Under Branches, switch the dish off at a branch or give it a different price there.

Modifiers & add-ons

A modifier group is a reusable set of choices — Choose a side, Extra toppings, Spice level — attached to as many dishes as you like.

  • Minimum / maximum — min 1, max 1 makes it a required single choice; min 0 makes it optional.
  • Repeatable — allow the same option more than once (2× extra cheese).
  • Price change — each option can add to the price (+ KES 50) or be free.
  • Pre-selected options are ticked by default; an option can be marked unavailable without deleting it.
Meal deals: make a combo product with a group like Choose a drink whose options are linked to real drink products — their stock and recipes are used when the combo is sold.

Happy hour & price rules

  1. 1
Go to Menu → Happy hour & pricing and create a rule.
  2. 2
Choose percent off or an amount off each item.
  3. 3
Limit it by days, time window, dates, categories or products, branches and order types (e.g. dine-in only).

When more than one rule applies, the best price for the customer wins. The POS shows the deal on the dish tile.

Ran out? Take it off (86)

In Menu → Products (or the app), tap the On switch to mark a dish 86’d — it greys out on every till and disappears from online ordering until you switch it back on. Discontinued hides it permanently without deleting its history.

Past orders keep their own copy of each item’s name and price, so changing or deleting a dish never changes old receipts or reports.
